Chinese Companies Aim to Partner with Columbus Co.

During his recent trip to China, Columbus County Economic Development Director Gary Lanier talked with a Chinese businessman interested in partnering with the owner of Tortimex to open a chain of Mexican restaurants in China and manufacturing the taco shells at Tortimex.  If this deal happens, Tortimex, which has been closed since last May, will reopen.

In addition, a Chinese wine company recently signed a contract to open a winery in Columbus County in the next six months.  At least 70 percent of the wine produced will be exported to China.  The company is looking at a location in the town of Brunswick to open the winery.
