Carolina Southern Railroad Seeks Federal Grant to Repair Bridges


Carolina Southern Railroad (CSR) voluntarily shut down their operation approximately six months ago after the Federal Railroad Administration identified several bridges in need of repair.  CSR is seeking a $15 million federal transportation grant to make the required repairs.  Although CSR is based in Conway, SC, it has several miles of its tracks in Columbus County.  The increased transportation costs due to the railroad shut-down is a concern to Columbus County businessess that use rail service.  For the full article reported in The News Reporter, click here.
